Reflection
Working on Task 1 for Application Design I has helped me better understand how usability and user experience principles apply in real products. By analysing GrabFood, I realised that even a well-established app can still have gaps in communication, visibility, and clarity. Reading user reviews was especially insightful — many issues such as unclear feedback, difficult reporting, and missed customisation requests showed how important direct and transparent communication is. Through this project, I learned to identify real user pain points and translate them into design opportunities. Creating GrabFood 2.0 allowed me to apply design thinking: combining usability heuristics, cross-industry inspiration, and realistic feature upgrades. I also discovered the value of balancing innovation with practicality — ensuring new ideas like AI recommendations or three-way chat truly improve the user journey, not just add complexity. Overall, this task improved my research, analytical, and UI/UX reasoning skills. It encouraged me to think beyond visuals and focus on how design decisions affect real user satisfaction and trust.
